What is The Injury Clinic online Appointment Service?

Our online appointment service is a way of assessing your Back, Neck, Knee or Shoulder pain etc from the comfort of your own home.

Just like our in clinic appointments this service allows us to perform a consultation and assessment of your condition, teaching you about your problem, what you can do, what to avoid and what exercises and techniques you need to do at home to stay active and healthy.

How does The Injury Clinic online appointment service work?

The Injury Clinic’s online appointment service can be delivered over the phone or using video call technology in the same way that you would Facetime or Skype a friend.

For a video call you can use your mobile, iPad, tablet, laptop or computer, as long as it has a camera and an internet connection.

You will receive an appointment access email on the day of the appointment that will provide you with more detailed set-up information and you can contact us if you have any further questions.

Following your consultation your therapist will email you a personalised recovery exercise program containing videos, pictures and descriptions of what you need to do.

If you have any questions after your consultation you can contact your therapist by email before your next appointment.

How can online appointments help me stay active and healthy?

Online appointments are an alternative to a face-to-face in-clinic appointments that can save you time and offer great results!

Studies have shown that getting the right management of injuries and conditions early on and having continued support and advice throughout the recovery phase helps people to recover faster and stops problems from reoccurring or becoming bigger in the future.

Unfortunately, people often put off seeing a specialist because it can be hard to take time out to visit a clinic in the day or challenging to travel if you are suffering with pain or mobility issues.

Our online appointment service is a great solution to this. It can connect you with one of our expert therapists at the touch of a button and from the comfort of your home.

Our clinic exercise app, which forms part of The Injury Clinic online appointment service, allows your practitioner to send you a personalised recovery exercise programme for you to complete at home and allows them to track your progress after your appointment too.

What can I expect from my virtual appointment?

The main purpose of any initial appointment, whether it be in the clinic face to face or over the phone or via video, is to assess the injured area or condition and determine a plan of care going forward.

It is a fully qualified and professionally trained Injury Clinic practitioner talking with you and going through the same set of assessment questions that they would ask you in clinic.

This assessment typically includes a conversation with your practitioner to learn more about your problem, symptoms and lifestyle. You will also be asked by your practitioner to perform certain movements so that they can assess your function.

Your practitioner will then provide you with advice about how to treat and manage your condition. This will include access to our clinic exercise app, where we will set you up with an account that includes exercise videos and advice personalised to you.

Where appropriate, you may be booked in for a follow up virtual appointment or face to face appointment in clinic.

If you have any problems or need to cancel your appointment please give us as much warning as possible by contacting us via email.

How long do sessions last?

The first virtual appointment will involve a thorough assessment and diagnosis of your condition and will last 30-45 minutes. Follow up virtual appointments will usually last 30 minutes.

What do I need to do before my virtual appointment?

To get the most from your virtual appointment with us, we recommend that you follow these four simple steps:

  Carefully read the instructions and follow the link in the email that will be sent to you on the day of your virtual appointment. We advise accessing this link at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment time. (make sure your camera and microphone are turned on).

  Find a location that offers you privacy and a bit of space. You may need to perform movements or share personal information.

  Make sure you are in a location where the practitioner will be able to see and hear you clearly.

  Set up your phone or laptop beforehand and make sure you have good signal, battery and an internet connection.
