Coronavirus Guidance

At The Injury Clinic Market Harborough we are following the latest updates and guidance issued by Public Health England to healthcare organisations in order to minimise the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19).

If you have been in contact with someone who has coronavirus or you have recently returned to the UK from a high risk country, please do not attend your treatment appointment until you have followed the latest advice from www.nhs.uk – call us on 01858 288260 to cancel and let us know (please do not come into the clinic to do this).

Check if you need medical help

NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.

Use this service if:

  • you think you might have coronavirus
  • in the last 14 days you’ve been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus – see coronavirus advice for travellers
  • you’ve been in close contact with someone with coronavirus

Click here to access the NHS 111 online coronavirus service.

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone.

How coronavirus is spread

Evidence is still emerging on how the virus spreads, but it is believed to be similar to other respiratory conditions, like cold and flu. Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

The risk of being in close contact with a person with coronavirus or contaminated surfaces is very low at the current time, as members of the public who have visited Wuhan or Hubei province, China or Italy are currently in isolation.

Testing of suspected coronavirus cases is carried out in line with strict regulations. This means that suspected cases are kept in isolation, away from public areas in hospitals and returned home in isolation.

How to avoid catching or spreading germs

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
