Experience treatment innovation with Shockwave Therapy.

Looking for a highly effective, proven, non invasive solution to a longstanding issue? Look no further!

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive, clinically proven and highly effective treatment for many chronic soft tissue injuries such as, Plantar fasciitis, Achilles Tendinopathy, Tennis Elbow, Patella Tendinopathy and Frozen Shoulder, amongst others.

Here at The Injury Clinic we pride ourselves on staying at the forefront of advances in treatment techniques and medical evidence in order to offer you the highest standards and best possible treatment options for your condition. That’s why we are super proud to now be offering Shockwave Therapy; a treatment that has been gaining much momentum in the therapy world in recent years.

How Does it work?

Shockwave Therapy works by delivering impulses of energy, targeted to specific areas of the damaged tissues to reduce pain, improve use and kickstart the bodies ‘stalled’ healing response to get your recovery back on track.

Due to this, Shockwave is also being used as a safe alternative to injections and surgery for many longstanding and difficult to heal injuries.

If you’ve tried several things to get rid of your pain with little to no effect, then Shockwave Therapy may be the answer for you!

What Can Be Treated?

As one of the most highly researched treatment techniques, Shockwave therapy has proven to be highly effective in the treatment of a number of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Patella Tendinopathy
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Tennis and/or Golfers Elbow
  • Greater Trochanteric Hip Pain Syndrome
  • Shin Pain

… And many other stubborn conditions.

The growing research demonstrating such high success rates (70-95%) for a range of conditions has resulted in Shockwave therapy being recognised and recommended in the NICE guidelines (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence).

What to expect?

Following an initial consultation to determine the suitability of Shockwave therapy for your condition, Shockwave treatments are then typically performed at weekly intervals. Each treatment session takes around 20-30 minutes with most conditions responding really well within 3-6 treatment sessions. Many clients experience an improvement in symptoms almost immediately while others can take up to several weeks to start feeling a benefit.

The impulses of energy caused by radial shockwaves passed into the treatment area are felt as rapid pulses which can feel a little uncomfortable but not painful. Usually your first treatment will start with a low level of intensity which can be increased and as you feel more comfortable.

Are there any side-effects?

Shockwave therapy is a safe treatment; you may notice some mild swelling or reddening of the treated area and in few cases a brief increase in symptoms can be felt temporarily following treatment.

Please note: Shockwave therapy is not suitable during Pregnancy and is contraindicated for individuals with a Pacemaker, Blood clotting disorder, Receiving a steroid injection (within 6-weeks), Skin damage or irritation at the site of treatment.
